Artist Statement:

I am an artist and a chess player. I started playing chess when I was 8 years old. I commenced my life as an artist in 2005. It felt natural for the two things to come together to make  this body of work. The exhibition is about my chess playing heroes; Bobby Fisher, Gary Kasparov, Magnus Carlsen ,Susan Polgar and Judit Polgár. Some of the works are about the Warrnambool chess club and how I relate to chess. My chess rating is 1545 at Blitz tournaments. The works are on paper and plywood for the Castle sculpture titled 'Checkmate'.
