Matthew Clarke • Solo Exhibition

09 April to 10 May 2014

115 Hay Street, Subiaco WA

An Industrious and flourishing visual narrator, Matthew Clarke paints within the small coastal town of Kirkstall in Victoria's South-West.  Living with a mild disability has not impaired the eminent passion with which Clarke pursues his career as a painter nor the mastery of his daring compositions. Enamoured with the vibrant world that surrounds him, Clarke paints his subjects with an unquestionable spontaneity and conviction. No facet of life is too mundane or too fleeting to avoid drawing Clarke’s engrossing contemplation and intuitive ingenuity. In the manner of a true raconteur of the every day, Clarke's recent works chronicle life within and around his family's rural homestead. With unique acuity, his works tell of an effervescent ecology bursting at the seams with eccentric and dynamic characters.

Mossenson Galleries is proud to present the first solo exhibition of paintings by Matthew Clarke held in Western Australia. The exhibition will be opened by CIty of Subiaco Mayor, Heather Henderson, and the artist, on 10 April 2014, 5 - 7pm.
