My Island Erub, rises from the sea of the Torres Strait. It is a strong volcanic island growing the things we eat in rich soil. The sea and the reef that surrounds us provides our fish, we are a people closely tied to both. In ‘before time’ there were disagreements and periods of unrest and between the four tribes Saisarem, Piedu, Meuram and Samsep of Erub represented by their totems. The tribes lived in different places on the island.
