Lives and works Utopia, Northern Territory

Patrick Kunoth Pwerle was born in 1981 at Artekerre in the remote eastern desert region of Utopia. He spent much of his childhood at Atnarare (Soakage Bore) and attended Utopia Homestead School. He lives with his wife Tricia Nelson and their son Bradley at an outstation in Utopia, where they live alongside Patrick’s parents, the renowned artists Josie Kunoth Petyarre and Dinni Kunoth Kemarre. Patrick began art making in 2007 under the tutelage and encouragement of his parents. In his artwork he draws upon the world around him, carving birds and figures from his desert home. He is also a painter of considerable skill, and enjoys depicting the excitement of the rodeos, camel and horse races that are held at Harts Range. Barrow Creek and Urandandji.
